From 1995 to 2001, Voyager graced TV screens, following the adventures of Captain Janeway, fantastic female protagonist, and her crew of the aptly named USS Voyager, as they are transported over 70,000 light-years away from earth into the distant, unexplored Delta Quadrant. Unable to return home, the show follows their adventures traversing their way back to earth, encountering various new alien species along the way. Deep Space 9 began a few years earlier, running from 1993 to 1999, chronologically overlapping with the events of Voyager....

Andor doesn’t just tell the story of how Cassian became a rebel; it also explores his childhood. The first three episodes each feature flashback scenes, telling of Cassian’s youth on Kenari in bits and pieces. In these scenes, Cassian and his yet-unnamed younger sister are shown living in a jungle with a group of other children. They seek out a crashed ship, likely to loot it for supplies, but the mission goes sideways....

Star Wars Squadrons was officially revealed earlier this week with a reveal trailer teasing the premise of the game. Focusing on space combat and hinting at potential details, it was noticed by fans that the pilots were throttling up during the encounter in the trailer. In any other flight game this may have gone unnoticed, but Star Wars has a long history with sim-like game play when it comes to battles in space....

While Lucasfilm and Headland have been predictably tight-lipped about The Acolyte, we know that the series is set during the final days of what’s known as the High Republic Era, about 200-years before the events of Phantom Menace. There’s currently a large publishing effort from Lucasfilm featuring novels and comics that focus on this era. To summarize, The High Republic is a time of peace and prosperity in the galaxy and is essentially the golden age of the Jedi Order....

While there’s no announcement in sight for a new Force Unleashed game, Nintendo has just announced that the first game will be heading to the Nintendo Switch in April 2022. As those who originally played the game might remember, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was released on a wide range of consoles and handhelds, with a few different versions of the game being available. The version coming to Switch seems to be a port of the Wii version of the game, which has both its advantages and disadvantages....

An image of a loot crate named “Fixes Deployed” has surfaced on Reddit with many Star Wars Battlefront 2 players noting the appearance of the crate within the in-game store, A statement, reading “Sincerest apologies. Here are some credits for the inconvenience” is provided within the description of the crate, with the contents seemingly gifting players 4,000 in-game credits and four randomized Star Cards. EA stirred up some controversy last year after many saw the Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot crate system as extremely predatory....

It was no surprise, then, when Electronic Arts and DICE announced an open beta for one of this year’s most highly-anticipated titles, Star Wars Battlefront. As EA revealed a few weeks ago, the Star Wars Battlefront beta will be open to all players, and will give fans of the franchise a chance to test a couple of the game’s multiplayer modes, as well as its offline offerings. In preparation for the start of the beta on October 8th, EA has confirmed the size of the beta, which will be around 7GB on PS4 and Xbox One, and 11GB on PC....

For those unaware, Electronic Arts’ version of Star Wars Battlefront cut a lot of offline features that many of fans of the franchise adored. For instance, the game launched with no single-player campaign, developers dropped the beloved turn-based strategy mode called Galactic Conquest, and most of the title’s gameplay modes are not even available to play in offline or split-screen with friends. As seen in the captured in-game footage below courtesy of Uninspired Zebra, a hidden menu labelled “Instant Action” is teasing immediate play for one or two players without having to go online at all....

The game took the podrace sequence from The Phantom Menace, the first Star Wars film since 1983’s Return of the Jedi, and turned it into a whole game. It’s one of the better Star Wars video games in a turbulent history of the genre. Game developer Aspyr is behind the project that also recently brought the old Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast games to PS4 and Switch. Aspyr’s VP of publishing Elizabeth Howard said, “The beloved game has been modernized for the most optimal gaming experience on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4....

Given his Star Wars homecoming, fans were also hoping to see his former co-star Portman joining him on the small screen. Unfortunately, she has been quite busy with her new role in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, so it doesn’t seem like she will be attached to the revival series anytime soon. The gameplay, surprisingly enough, took the form of a melee-centric action adventure with mild Metroidvania elements. It seems that the design team looked to both God of War and FromSoftware’s various Souls games for design inspiration, as the game is often thought of as a fairly competent Souls-like. Aside from the obvious similarities between Jedi’s meditation circles and Dark Souls’ bonfires, the games have a few other similarities like Stims serving as an Estus Flask, and how XP is lost on death and must be recovered before dying again....

Fortunately, though much of the backstory fans will need to understand where the plot of the next season of the Disney+ hit is probably heading comes from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, fans don’t need to consume the entirety of the 133 episodes of the show to prepare. Need doesn’t mean shouldn’t, though. Star Wars: The Clone Wars is a fantastic show, and a must for fans of the franchise....

FX’s What We Do in the Shadows has paid homage to the new Star Wars spin-off Andor, starring Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, by reimagining one of its stars as a galactic hero. The coffee chain announced yesterday that it was releasing four designs, as well as a reusable red cup. The reusable cup is to help customers be more conscious of the environment and will get them 50 cents off drinks if they use their cup over a disposable one.
