Lindelof is best known for his work on the hit television series Lost, and he more recently worked on the critically acclaimed series Watchmen for HBO. Interestingly, he worked closely with JJ Abrams on Lost. Abrams, of course, directed two of the three Star Wars sequels and was the loudest creative voice in the story direction for those films. The Hollywood Reporter, one of the outlets that wrote about Lindelof’s new Star Wars movie (a fact that gives these rumors even more credibility, given the reliability of the outlet), stated that this film is likely to take place after Episode IX and that sequel trilogy characters could appear....

Boyega, who played Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, has been outspoken about his treatment by both fans and the studio. So it should come as no surprise that he’d have a few thoughts about the racist attacks from unfoundedly angry viewers leveled at Obi-Wan Kenobi actress Ingram. Boyega recently spoke out about the issue (and others) on SiriusXM’s Tell Me Everything With John Fugelsang, giving a surprisingly charitable appraisal of the situation, and it has a lot to do with how Disney has handled it all....

Speaking with author and interviewer Sariah Wilson, Johnson elaborated a bit on why he went the direction he did with the big bad Supreme Leader. According to Wilson, the director had little interest in the character from the beginning, believing that continuing the story as it had been laid out would have simply turned into “repeating exactly the original trilogy” rather than telling an actual new and original tale (though he isn’t entirely averse to referencing past Star Wars films)....

The Rise of Skywalker is the lowest rated Star Wars film in the saga and the lowest box office intake of the Disney Trilogy. Critics fault it for its unfocused storytelling while fans deride it for backpedaling and an unimaginative resolution to the trilogy. Rise was Disney’s “make good” for the rancor it received after The Last Jedi and Solo two years prior. The Rise of Skywalker centers around Rey, Finn, Poe, C-3PO, BB-8, and Chewbacca adventuring to find a Sith wayfinder to locate the hidden planet Exegol so they can confront the revived Emperor Palpatine....

Star Wars lore is complex, as any fan (even casual fan) is well aware of. The history of Tatooine is therefore one that is divided amongst different aspects of the canon. While it has its origins in these Star Wars stories, the creation of the planet draws inspiration from some previous well-known sci-fi tales as well. Unfortunately, this didn’t come to fruition in the way that was set up, with The Last Jedi going in a different direction with Finn’s character and offering no progression to a potential Jedi plot line. Rian Johnson’s film gave him an arc and character development, but the same can’t be said of The Rise of Skywalker. The conclusion of the Sequel Trilogy and the Skywalker Saga was so packed that it didn’t seem to have time to further develop many of its characters....
