THE GOOD
P.K. Subban
There's something extra hilarious about Subban netting the game-winner. For a lot of reasons — some seriously dubious — he's booed in virtually every NHL arena except Bell Centre. TD Garden fans take it to another level. The fact that he won his team a double-OT game in front of a bunch of people that hate him? Great.
Bruins’ celebrations
Between Torey Krug and Johnny Boychuk, Boston nailed it tonight. Is it a sustainable pace? We'll see.
Their inspirations are obvious.
Francis Boullion
For a few minutes, it looked like the 38-year-old defenseman had scored the game-winner; he put the Habs up 3-2 with about 8 minutes left. Becoming the oldest Montreal defenseman to ever score in a playoff game was impressive enough. Factor in that Bouillon had two goals this season and never more than five in any, and you've got something pretty cool.
THE BAD
Habs’ screens
WIthout Carey Price, Montreal loses this game 10-3 in regulation, or thereabouts. Boston hit him with 51 shots and attempted 47 more. The fact that they got there in a little more than four periods is irrelevant — it was a puck possession virtuoso act, and if it keeps up, the Bruins are going to advance, sooner rather than later. Still, Thursday was about Price; two of the three goals he allowed were, essentially, unstoppable because of teammates standing in his face. That would've taken the concept of wasted effort up a notch.
“Real American”
Yeah, Montreal is in Canada, and Boston is Boston, but it's silly to play the Hulk Hogan card — as TD Garden did — when your team is led by guys from the Czech Republic, Canada and Finland. Montreal has six American players to Boston's five. Nah.
This series is going to end
That's the worst news of all. Boston-Montreal feels overhyped ... until it actually happens.
