This bombshell was revealed in a new trailer for Starlink: Battle for Atlas, which also showed off some cinematic space combat. In the trailer, a character is being attacked by enemy ships, so she calls for help, catching the attention of one Fox McCloud. Fox then flies in to save the day, and if the trailer is any indication, he will come complete with his usual moveset, including his patented barrel roll maneuver.

Ubisoft confirmed Starlink: Battle for Atlas as one of the games at E3 2018 well before the show, so its appearance wasn’t a surprise. However, the crossover with Star Fox was unexpected, as was the appearance of Shigeru Miyamoto, who made an appearance at Ubisoft’s E3 press conference for the second year in a row.

Last year, Miyamoto was on stage at Ubisoft’s press conference to discuss Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, another unexpected collaboration between the French game publisher and Nintendo. That game was also represented at E3 2018, with Ubisoft focusing on the upcoming Donkey Kong DLC that it on the way for it.

Between Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle and the Star Fox/Starlink crossover, it’s clear that the relationship between Ubisoft and Nintendo is stronger than ever. If Starlink proves successful, it will be interesting to see if this partnership results in any other collaborations down the line.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas will launch on October 16 for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. The Star Fox content is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
