The school said Beckner will have surgery in two or three weeks and trainers are confident he will be a full participant in preseason camp next August.

Beckner was the centerpiece of what turned out to be Gary Pinkel’s final signing class, a consensus five-star recruit from East St. Louis, Ill., who was rated No. 2 overall nationally by ESPN.
The 6-4, 300-pounder has eight tackles for loss and three sacks this season, both totals ranking third on the Tigers’ defense. He was injured on the first defensive snap Saturday against BYU.
