The video released by IGN shows off some gameplay footage from Star Trek: Resurgence, with Spock being present in the gameplay. The footage is about seven minutes long and gives fans a good amount of information to gauge what this game is going to be like. The video shows Spock arriving in the observation deck/ meeting room of the U.S.S Resolute with the captain to meet with the senior officers to brief them on the mission at hand. Throughout the video, there are decisions for conversation points for the player character to bring to the discussion that pops up with controller buttons from an Xbox controller, showing off the decision-making gameplay and examples of the options available.

The gameplay gives off a feeling similar to the Mass Effect games with the decision-making, but in the Star Trek universe instead. The voice actor portraying Spock does a great job at emulating the late Leonard Nimoy’s speech patterns in an effort to do justice to the character and it feels very organic in this setting.

With Star Trek Online having the pleasure of its ships becoming canon in Star Trek Picard, this just adds to all the hype surrounding the franchise as of late. The franchise has been becoming even more lively with the success it has been having in the streaming spotlight with Discovery, Lower Decks, Prodigy, and Picard. A video game such as this is sure to please fans, especially with all the love and dedication that seems to have been into it.

The outspoken hope is that the gameplay animation seen in this footage will be ironed out before release, since it arguably leaves a lot to be desired in this day and age of video games. Despite the look of Star Trek: Resurgence so far, there is an amazing-looking game hidden underneath with passion and love that fans of the show are sure to enjoy.

Star Trek: Resurgence releases in Spring 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
