Disney Plus has gone all-in on Star Wars live-action content over the last few years, first with The Mandalorian and then The Book of Boba Fett. The next series that could be hitting the streaming service relatively soon is Ahsoka, though there are some complications and questions surrounding the series and when it might actually air.

Nailing down exactly when the series centering around the character first introduced to Star Wars fans in the Clone Wars will premiere becomes even more difficult because of the coronavirus pandemic. A report circulating on Reddit from Production Weekly claims that the Ahsoka series is going to be going into production later this month. While Production Weekly is usually considered by those in the fan base to be pretty reliable on this kind of information, there are some who wonder whether the schedule might change because of the rise of the Omicron variant.
The same report from Production Weekly said that while production on Ahsoka could be ahead of what people thought was the schedule, there’s another series that’s just about wrapped season 3. The report says that The Mandalorian is almost done with its shooting and that could mean that the show featuring the Beskar armor-wielding bounty hunter will be back before the end of 2022. Everything in this new report is hard to confirm because Lucasfilm tends to keep these kinds of details under wraps until it is ready to make an official announcement.
At this time, Disney and Lucasfilm have not announced any premiere dates for any of the upcoming Star Wars shows. The studio tends not to announce when a show is going into production or started shooting precisely because it likely doesn’t want fans wondering why Ahsoka isn’t hitting the airwaves sooner, should there be some kind of delay that’s beyond the company’s control.
Until there’s an official announcement, Star Wars fans will have to be content knowing that Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson as the titular character, is coming at some point in the near future. The Mandalorian season 3 is also coming to Disney Plus relatively soon, though it also hasn’t been given an official release date. For now, fans of the franchise know they have three more episodes of The Book of Boba Fett to keep them entertained.
Star Wars: Ahsoka will be released exclusively on Disney Plus.
