RELATED: Star Wars Fan Theories That Turned Out To Be True
George Lucas created a vast history for the Star Warsuniverse. Though much of it is no longer canon, there is always a chance that Disney will take inspiration from some of the franchise’s forgotten stories and characters. There are countless characters worthy of their own spinoff and, with the rate at which new shows are being developed, there is a chance they may one day receive one.
8 DJ
DJ is first encountered by Finn and Rose during their brief stint on Canto Bite. Unable to locate a hacker to help them board Snoke’s Dreadnought, the pair decide to settle for DJ even though they remain skeptical of his intentions.
DJ is one of the few characters in Star Wars to believe that the Resistance and the First Order are both plagues on the galaxy. He was a deeply cynical being with little interest in anything other than securing wealth, but what made him this way? A spinoff starring DJ could gift him with a much-needed backstory to finally flesh out his purpose in the universe.
7 Porgs
The introduction of porgs in The Last Jedi marked the debut of one of the most adorable species in the Star Wars franchise. These beakless birds don’t add overly much to the movie’s plot, but it is hard not to deny the much-needed level of cuteness they contribute.
A spinoff could follow the life of a stray porg who wandered onto the Millennium Falcon and found itself lost in another galaxy. The lone creature would have to scavenge the vast reaches of space to find a way home, but being unable to speak would render his plans exceptionally challenging to accomplish.
6 D-O
D-O was introduced in The Rise of Skywalker and, because of this, he got very little screen time. He is a charming droid who could speak Basic, but his primitive hardware and lack of maintenance resulted in his speech becoming distorted and often incomprehensible.

The most interesting aspect of D-O’s character is his backstory. He reluctantly served a Sith assassin named Ochi and was left traumatized after the experience. A spinoff show involving this data storage droid could follow his journey under the elusive assassin’s command.
5 Merrin
Introduced in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Merrin quickly became a fan favorite thanks to the mystery that surrounded her. She is initially presented as a villain before slowly changing her opinion on the Jedi and joining Cal on his journey. As a Dathomirian, Merrin harbors some baffling otherworldly powers that have yet to be seen in live action.
The Nightsisters of Dathomir were presented in The Clone Wars TV show to be a cult-like group capable of harnessing dark magic. A spinoff show starring Merrin could reveal what her life was like before she met Cal Kestis, and perhaps even reveal a connection between her and Darth Maul.
4 Chirrut Îmwe
There is no denying that Chirrut Îmwe was one of the most fascinating characters in Rogue One. Up until his debut, it was believed that only Jedi could utilize the Force, but Chirrut disproved this. He uses the Force to make up for his lack of vision, but how did he lose his eyesight in the first place?

A spinoff show about Chirrut could reveal how he came to understand the Force, and possibly allude to a secret Jedi past in the process. His lack of eyesight never restricted his movement in Rogue One, but surely it was a hindrance at some point in his life.
3 Admiral Ackbar
Many fans felt that Admiral Ackbar’s off-screen death in The Last Jedi was undeserved. After the film’s debut, it quickly became evident that he was a much more loved character than most thought, so a spinoff starring the iconic Mon Calamari would likely appease his unsatisfied fans.
Perhaps this spinoff could follow Ackbar’s ascension in the ranks of the Rebellion while also documenting his early life. It is known that he was raised by a clan of merchants on the planet of Dac, but little else of the character’s early life has been explored. He was alive during the Clone Wars, so maybe a spinoff could focus on his life before the events of Order 66.
2 The Knights Of Ren
Rey witnesses a series of shocking images after touching Luke’s lost lightsaber in The Force Awakens. Some of these memories depict scenes that fans are familiar with, but one of them showcased Kylo Ren and his lackeys destroying a Jedi Temple.
The Knights of Ren eventually returned in The Rise of Skywalker, but their screen time was kept to a minimum in favor of the main story. Though The Rise of Kylo Ren revealed how Ben Solo came to lead the group, not much is known about how the Knights of Ren truly came to be.
1 R2-D2
R2-D2 has been a valuable asset throughout each Star Wars movie trilogy. If not for the faithful droid, most of the franchise’s main characters would have met an untimely end. His bravery is unmatched considering his capabilities, but little is known about the inner workings of his mind.
Unlike his taller counterpart, C-3PO, R2 never had his memories wiped. He has managed to retain all of his memories since his time in servitude to Queen Amidala, but it is rare for him to divulge this information to his comrades. An R2-D2 spinoff could finally allow fans to experience how he feels and what he thinks of his former master’s downfall.
