A modder named FruitBytheFett was able to put together some custom armor for Han Solo in the multiplayer version of the game. By using this mod, players can turn the rugged space captain and smuggler into Disney/Pixar’s own star commander, Buzz Lightyear.
To do this, FruitBytheFett suited up Han in Boba Fett’s backpack and some Storm Trooper armor. From there, it was a simple matter of color changes and finishing touches before Han was ready to travel to infinity and beyond. The video above gives a little taste of how the mod looks in-game. Thanks to the use of Fett’s backpack, players can actually fly as Buzz Lightyear for a bit (or is it falling with style?).
After seeing a mod like this, one can’t help but wonder what other Pixar-themed creations FruitBytheFett and other modders could come up with. Imagine playing in the Star Wars universe as Woody, Flick or maybe even one of the loveable monsters who scare because they care. Mods could be Star Wars Battlefront 2’s saving grace because, despite being the most-watched E3 trailer of 2017, players don’t seem to be flocking to the game.
EA had high hopes for the game, predicting it would ship 14 million copies worldwide in just five months. But unfortunately, by the end of 2017 sales figures of the boxed version of the game showed a decline of 61% compared to those of Star Wars Battlefront, which released in 2015.
Additionally, sales were down 50% compared to Battlefield 1, which released in 2016 and was an immediate success. While some of this decline can be attributed to the ease and popularity of digital sales, it is still not a good sign for the game, which has also had its share of criticism regarding its loot crates and microtransaction system.
The Buzz Lightyear mod can be found on the Nexus mods site.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
