According to a new video from YouTuber BattlefrontUpdates, the embargo has finally lifted on a recent press Q&A that the creator was in attendance for. According to the twelve-minute clip, there will be a range of changes made to Star Wars Battlefront 2’s online mode, as well as a few returning features to be excited about.
This time around, gunplay will reportedly be more skill-based, with a deeper learning curve for players to experience. Aiming down the sights of weapons will also be more useful than it was in the first game, meaning that Battlefront 2 will see less hip firing than 2015’s version.
In other combat-related news, fighting with a Lightsaber has been substantially revamped, making it feel much better for players who are in control of Battlefront 2’s hero characters. Heroes will now react in a consistent way to various abilities such as Force Push, and the powerful individuals have been balanced with a rock/paper/scissors system that should make combat with them a little more interesting.
There will be no partner or squad system in the multiplayer, but DICE hasn’t revealed what the feature will be replaced with just yet. To the disappointment of many, the dynamic destruction that the Battlefield series is known for still won’t be present in the game, due to the developers not believing that the experience would fit in well with the Star Wars universe.
Some further news that might upset the game’s fan-base is the fact that all vehicles, including starships, still won’t allow for taking off or landing, despite the promise of space battles coming to Battlefront 2. Speaking of take-offs, jetpacks will be making their return to the series, though this time DICE claims that major feedback from the community has influenced it to restrict the devices to specific classes and characters. The rolling mechanic and the thermal imploder grenade are also confirmed to be returning.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is scheduled to release on PC, PlayStation4, and Xbox One on November 17, 2017.
