Unfortunately, there’s nothing really to see on the site yet, just a message confirming the first trailer will be shown this weekend at 11:30am PST on April 15 during the Star Wars Battlefront 2 panel at Star Wars Celebration event in Orlando. Interested players can also sign up to receive a newsletter to stay up to date on the game in addition to earning an exclusive in-game “Not the Droids” emote.
The only other notable element to the newly public website is a mysterious looking logo flickering in the background. It’s perceived that this logo could be linked to the upcoming campaign which has been rumored to focus on the female Imperial officer, Rae Sloane. Speculation points to the campaign picking up with Sloane and her Imperial squad on Endor during the second Death Star explosion at the end of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. From there, it’s believed the game will fill in certain story elements from that moment to the start of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Even though Star Wars Battlefront found success after launching in 2015, a source of frustration for fans revolved around the fact that the game firmly stuck to content from the original trilogy and that there was a lack of a dedicated campaign, something which celebrities like John Boyega also called out as well. Based on the leaked trailer, it appears DICE took that criticism to heart as Battlefront 2 not only plans to tell the story of that currently unnamed Imperial soldier, but the multiplayer will finally bring together all eras of the Star Wars timeline. For those who did see the teaser, characters like Rey and Kylo Ren from The Force Awakens were shown, in addition to a duel between Darth Maul and Yoda, two prominent prequel era movie characters, at the very end.
Based on the small amount of information we have, are you looking forward to this upcoming sequel? What else are you hoping to see once it’s officially revealed this weekend?
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is expected to release sometime later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC
