Star Wars Battlefront 2 Reveal Trailer

As promised, Saturday’s Star Wars Celebration panel included a full reveal for Star Wars Battlefront 2 that was punctuated by an official trailer and confirmation the game will release November 17, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Unfortunately, that trailer was almost exactly the same as the one that leaked a few days prior, thus spoiling the surprise for many Star Wars fans out there.

But, for those who wanted to wait until things were official, check out the Star Wars Battlefront 2 reveal trailer below:

Single Player Campaign

There is a lot to digest in the trailer, but the key point of focus is the single player campaign. As we learned from the leaked trailer and is now confirmed here, Star Wars Battlefront 2’s campaign will center on the Empire, specifically Iden Versio, the leader of an elite Stormtrooper unit called Inferno Squad.

Versio’s story is set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens and shows the other side of the coin - what it was like to witness defeat. It’s a unique take on a Star Wars story, one that will offer a unique perspective for fans while also highlighting some key series moments.

Although the campaign will star a new female hero, EA DICE promises that plenty of familiar faces and settings will make appearances throughout the campaign. In the trailer, we can see that Versio has at least one run in with Luke Skywalker, and is in pursuit of the Millennium Falcon at one point. It’s unclear how deep the story will go in terms of bridging that gap to Episode 7, but there are plenty of opportunities to fill in some story holes.

Multiplayer

On the multiplayer side of things the trailer is comprised of in-engine footage but features no live gameplay. That’s not surprising given DICE’s M.O. when it comes to multiplayer titles - the studio loves to save things for E3 - but it will likely be disappointing to some who were hoping for a closer look.

What we can glean from the trailer, though, is that vehicles will be more bountiful in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 multiplayer, and that space will play a more prominent role. The game is also drawing on all Star Wars eras for inspiration, as highlighted by the appearances of Darth Maul and Yoda. Essentially, this means no setting or character is off limits for the sequel, and fans should have plenty to look forward to.

Additional details were also provided by the game’s official site to confirm multiplayer will support up to 40 players in competitive online and 24 players in the new space battle mode. It may not be bigger in terms of players, but the multiplayer does sound as if it will have more options when it comes to playable character, vehicles, weapons, customization options, and modes.

Co-op fans are also getting a little something out of Star Wars Battlefront 2, albeit in offline form. Offline multiplayer was something that came to the first game a little later than most hoped, at least in the form players were looking for, but now it will be available right out of the box.

And speaking of that box, there will be a an Elite Trooper Deluxe Collector’s Edition available for those who want to invest a little extra in their Star Wars Battlefront 2 experience. It includes:
