As seen below in the latest trailer for Star Wars Battlefront 2, Episode 7 – The Force Awakens star John Boyega takes players through a near-comprehensive breakdown of all the content that will be available at launch. Right at the outset, Boyega asserts that the first-person shooter is a “Star Wars experience like none other,” with the actor touching on the game’s playable Heroes and Villains, its sizable space battles, its new single-player campaign, and the console version’s split-screen mode.
Of course, Boyega goes into more extensive detail regarding the aforementioned features and content of Star Wars Battlefront 2, for when it comes to multiplayer assets, he shows off the 40-player Galactic Assault mode with its hero units and vehicles, the large-scale space battles of the 24-player Starfighter Assault mode, as well as Strike, Blast, and Heroes vs. Villains. Not to mention, he also introduces a brief glimpse at Arcade, which is the offline mode that can be played solo or in split-screen locally with a second player.
In addition to multiplayer wares, Star Wars Battlefront 2’s single-player campaign starring True Blood’s Janina Gavankar as Iden Versio, the Inferno Squad Commander for the Empire, is shown in action and touted as “an untold story helping bridge the events of The Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.” The trailer also highlights the new Star Card and progression systems, with the latter being a bit of a sore spot for some fans due to the inclusion of microtransactions. That said, though, it’s worth mentioning that all post-launch DLC will be free.
Taking all of this into consideration, there’s no doubt that Star Wars Battlefront 2 fans are champing at the bit in anticipation of jumping into the game’s beta, which begins next month. Hopefully, players will walk away impressed with the trial, and be able to confirm that DICE and Electronic Arts managed to address and improve upon all of the issues involved with the 2015 Battlefront release.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches on November 17, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
