The info comes by way of the official Battlefront 2 website and reveals that EA and Origin Access members will be able to begin playing on November 9, well ahead of the global November 17 release date. This isn’t surprising considering 2015’s Star Wars: Battlefront allowed early access five days ahead of the release date for EA and Origin Access members.
We’ll quickly note that like most other EA early access titles, Battlefront 2 will only be playable for 10 hours during the early access time period. So it’s likely no one will be able to complete the single-player campaign during that time and release any spoilers before the game releases for everyone about a week later.
The revelation about the early access for the game comes at a good time considering the bit of mixed press Battlefront 2 has received lately. After announcing that the game would not come with a Season Pass (presumably meaning any DLC content would be free), EA has started walking back on those comments. Naturally, gamers are a bit confused and a little suspicious by the change in messaging and will likely have to wait to get any additional details.
Gamers were hopeful that the omission of a Battlefront 2 Season Pass would mean any planned DLC for the game would be free, similar to Titanfall 2’s setup. At a time when so many developers seem hell-bent on squeezing every penny from gamers’ wallets, it’s refreshing when developers opt for a more “gamer-first” mentality. It’ll be interesting to see what EA and DICE decide for Battlefront 2.
Anyone interested in gaining early access to Battlefront 2 can do so by joining EA Access on Xbox One or Origin Access on PC. Both offer subscriptions for $5 per month or $30 per year.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is set to release on PC, PlayStation4, and Xbox One on November 17, 2017. Early access will be available on November 9, 2017.
