Since E3 2015, where the first gameplay was finally revealed to the masses, EA and DICE have been steadily releasing new information on the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront as the release date continues to approach. The multiplayer shooter promises to feature a lot content for gamers including a slew of multiplayer modes which have been revealed, such as Blast and Fighter Squadron, with three additional modes on the way.
Disney and EA were quite busy this past weekend celebrating all aspects of the Disney universe including Star Wars at the D23 event in Anaheim. For fans of Star Wars Battlefront, a few more details were revealed including a few bits of news on the Battle of Jakku DLC pack.
During the “It’s Game Time: Disney Interactive Takes The Stage” panel at D23 2015, EA Star Wars general manager Justin Mccully gave fans a bit more information about the upcoming DLC pack including a first look at new concept art. The photo primarily features a downed X-Wing in the sands of the planet Jakku while another image shows a developer taking a picture of actual sand to help create the concept art.
In addition to the art reveal, Mccully also put a hard date on the free DLC. Fans can download the add-on starting on December 8. He also reiterated that fans who preorder Star Wars Battlefront will gain access to the content a week earlier on December 1.

The biggest news may have come later on from Sony’s Adam Boyes who revealed a Darth Vader themed PlayStation 4 console. Long time Star Wars gamers will also be happy to note that in addition to the Sith Lord appearing on the top of the console, four classic games will also be included. Super Star Wars, Star Wars Racers Revenge, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter and Jedi Starfighter will all come packaged in, and feature full trophy support for each of the games.
Long time fans of the Battlefront franchise received some disappointing news from EA COO Peter Moore recently as to why the company decided to not feature a single player mode. Citing metrics that stated very few gamers were playing single player modes in titles like this as the chief reason, it’ll be interesting to see if this decision ultimately hurts the game down the road. Still, with a bunch of announced multiplayer modes like Supremacy, which add in massive maps filled with aircraft and vehicles, there should be plenty for players to do.
Star Wars Battlefront releases on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 17, 2015.
