The characters found in Star Wars Battlefront’s file are Han Solo, Princess Leia and the Emperor, which we can assume will be joining the fight alongside the previously announced Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Boba Fett. The user, who goes by the Reddit handle TheeUberMedic, also announced that they found another file referencing a potential game mode called “Hero Battle,” suggesting that there may be a mode solely focused on these heroes and villains. Due to the limited number of hero/villain characters revealed so far, this may mean that even more Heroes will be included in Star Wars Battlefront when the game is released.
While the other characters aren’t confirmed as playable in the upcoming sci-fi shooter, EA have previously announced that Luke, Vader and Fett are “just some” of the Hero and Villain characters to be included in the game. The inclusion of these particular Star Wars characters is hardly surprising given their appearances in the original Battlefront games, as well as their importance to the Star Wars universe, though. The previous Battlefront games saw many playable Heroes and Villains including: Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, General Grevious and Anakin Skywalker but this reboot of the franchise may not see quite this number.
Heroes and Villains are special characters, unlocked in game via a powerup found on the map. They often have special abilities or equipment to differentiate themselves from the rest of the team - such as Force powers and Lightsabers - that make them powerful allies and formidable adversaries capable of turning the tide in a match. In a regular game, one Hero or Villain can be in play per team at any time, leaving it up to the chosen player to make the best possible use of their character before their life bar slowly depletes.
TheeUberMedic has also uncovered a list of weapons and vehicles to be included in the full game and promises to update his post to include them sometime in the near future.
The Star Wars Battlefront beta is available now on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It is set to run until October 12.
Star Wars Battlefront will launch on November 17 with Disney’s Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens hitting theaters in December. EA has also announced tie-in DLC for Battlefront based on the movie.
