EA’s initial sales estimates for Star Wars Battlefront predicted that the game would move nine million copies. After millions of gamers flocked to consoles to participate in the Battlefront beta and the last trailer for The Force Awakens raised Star Wars fever to an all-time high, EA is increasing that prediction by four million units.
During the latest EA investors call, chief operating officer Peter Moore made the company’s latest prediction public…
The Star Wars Battlefront beta offered a lot of interesting stats about the game thanks to the participation of roughly nine million gamers. That participation combined with the fact that the usual Battlefield games sell roughly nine million copies led EA to believe that Battlefront is perfectly position to go above and beyond initial expectations. If console sales see another spike, as Microsoft is predicting, then the potential market for Battlefront will also be growing.
After the beta, a new Battlefront trailer confirmed that other iconic character’s from the franchise, including Han Solo and Leia, would also be playable in the game with the help of power-ups. If the rate at which new Star Wars toys have been flying off the shelves at Target is any indication of interest, then it seems like gamers in all age ranges will be excited to battle on Hoth, fire blasters, and fly X-Wings over the holiday season.
