The news comes from a video posted by EA Brasil and though the video now seems to have been deleted, WCCFtech translated the video’s contents. The publication says that Star Wars Battlefront players will soon be headed to Tatooine, the desert home planet of Luke Skywalker. Moreover, they will be able to dress Luke and Leia up in brand new outfits and there will also be Daily Challenges, Private Matches and Special Community Events to take part in as well.
New game content is almost always good news no matter which way it’s sliced, this content will apparently be free too. According to the EA Brasil video, the new Luke and Leia outfits, Tatooine and those new events will all be available free of charge, outside of the season pass. While the Star Wars Battlefront season pass is an inviting offer on its own (it includes four expansion packs, adding 16 maps and several new game modes), some have criticized it for being too expensive and many fans will surely be happy about these upcoming freebies.
The new content is also good news for those who have complained that Star Wars Battlefront is too repetitive or that there aren’t enough players to play with and against. At launch, leaked playerbase numbers seemed to suggest that few people are playing Battlefront at any given time, particularly on Xbox One and PC. And while the game was arguably hampered by the release of Fallout 4, Halo 5 and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (which all launched around the same time), fans have been hopeful that the numbers will pick up.
The new content and events should go a long way towards that. Not only could it encourage Star Wars Battlefront players get back in the game but they’ll play it on a daily basis as well, having to sign in every day of the week for those challenges. The DLC will reportedly launch later this month and so fans should look out for more potential teammates (and opponents) then.
