That LEGO builder, who goes by the name marshal banana, has spent the last year building the slightly modified version of the Millennium Falcon that can be seen in The Force Awakens. It’s still instantly recognizable, albeit with a few tweaks, but is no less detailed. Oh, and it took over 7,500 bricks to build.
The epic LEGO build was featured and detailed on the brothers brick blog wherein marshal banana shares all the stunning details. This miniaturized version of the Millennium Falcon is nearly three feet long and weighs about 22 pounds. To keep the model structurally sound, the builder had to reinforce the interior of the model with LEGO and wiring instead of creating a replica of the actual Millennium Falcon interior; however, it does have functioning lights for the rear engines as well as the top and bottom gun wells, a fully modeled cockpit, and a functioning boarding ramp.
In comparison to the official LEGO version of the Millennium Falcon, which is the biggest official LEGO set with the second most pieces (5,195), this fan version has about 50% more pieces. It also features a much more fully detailed bottom side as compared to the fairly bare bottom of the official LEGO version.
Most will recognize the ship from The Force Awakens and not the Original Trilogy because of its rectangular sensor panel, which replaced the circular sensor dish that was ripped off on the attack of the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi.
