For the first part of the game, they will come across several chests and doors that won’t open for them, flashing the message “Scomp Link must be repaired to operate this device.” The Scomp Link in question being a device tied to BD-1, the little chicken-legged droid that accompanies Jedi protagonist Cal Kestis. More than the lightsaber or Cal’s various skills, this tool will be key to really opening up Fallen Order’s world, but the one BD-1 starts off with is broken, so players won’t be able to do so unless they know where to find the means of repairing it.

Luckily, players won’t have to go far off the intended path, or wait too long, to find where the Scomp Link upgrade is hidden. Players will want to want to head to Zeffo, one of the first planets they can travel to in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. However, they won’t be able to immediately head to it, as they need to unlock something else to access its location.
That something else is the Force Push ability, which lets players move a number of large objects and knock down certain barriers. In order to unlock it, players will have to brave the Tomb of Eilram, a Legend of Zelda-esque dungeon and one of the first puzzle-based areas Fallen Order throws at them. Upon reaching the final chamber, they will learn Force Push, which will enable them to escape the Tomb.
From there, they’ll want to circle back to a previous area, the Weathered Monument. Eagle-eyed players will probably have noticed a trapezoidal door at the base of the monument the first time they were passing through, one that they couldn’t open then. Now they will be able to break the door down with Force Push and open up a path inside, which leads to a workbench, one of several where Cal’s lightsaber can be customized. This one has the upgrade needed to repair BD-1’s Scomp Link, so all players will have to do here is interact with the workbench like normal to grab it and start opening up paths that were closed off to them before.
