Details for the patch to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order were outlined by Reddit user UNTDrew, a Community Manager for Electronic Arts (EA), in the r/FallenOrder subreddit. EA published the action-adventure title by Respawn Entertainment, which follows Cal as he attempts to escape the Empire and complete his Jedi training following the events of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

An orange lightsaber is not the only pre-order cosmetic item made available for everyone through today’s patch. Two lightsaber hilts, a yellow-and-black skin for Cal’s droid companion BD-1, and a similar recolor for the Mantis ship they travel on (matching the Gold Squadron starships that helped blow up the Death Star II in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi) were also made completely accessible to players according to UNTDrew.
On top of that, the patch fixed a number of bugs throughout the game and updated its language translations.
The deep and complex lightsaber combat is an integral part of Fallen Order’s appeal, and is generally beloved by players in-part because of the many customization options for their iconic beam sword.
Though surprisingly enough, the lightsaber-battling metroidvania gameplay that helped draw so much attention to the game might not have existed if the developers went with Lucasfilm’s initial expectations of creating a first-person shooter.
This patch might leave some hardcore Star Wars fans who pre-ordered the game for its extra cosmetic options upset. However, it’s undoubtedly a great thing for those players who may not have gotten the game until they heard the overwhelming praise heaped upon it after release.
After all, there’s a lot to love about Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order beyond its lightsaber combat — not the least of which being an amazing story in a year where the franchise’s big theatrical release didn’t please everyone.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
