EA, Lucasfilm, and Respawn have confirmed fans will get a “first look” at Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in action in a PR release, confirming there will be a gameplay trailer at The Game Awards. What’s more interesting is that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s release date leaked hours before this confirmation, suggesting its release date will be March 15 or March 16 (perhaps depending on the region).

Bigger coincidences have happened, of course, but if someone connects the dots, it seems Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will get a gameplay trailer with a release date too. This doesn’t mean the game won’t be delayed, but it gives fans some reasonable expectations for early next year, which is shaping up to be as strong as this one. However, some fans may be perplexed about this marketing strategy, as this would be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s second trailer since it was revealed at Star Wars Celebration in May 2022. Having such a small marketing window heading into release is uncommon, but it seems to be a new strategy for EA.
For example, Need for Speed Unbound’s marketing was pretty heavy, but it didn’t begin until a couple of months before launch. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s window is a little wider, but it’s also Star Wars so that’s not surprising. This marketing cycle lines up with comments by known insider Jeff Grubb, who highlights that this was EA’s plan. For established IPs, it certainly makes sense, but it remains to be seen how long it sticks.
Either way, it’s exciting. There haven’t been many confirmed world premieres ahead of The Game Awards yet, and it’s not likely to ruin any surprises. At the very least, Star Wars fans have something to look forward to.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to launch in 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
