Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s cinematic and tonal teaser illustrates that dark times may have befallen the Stinger Mantis crew. The Mantis seemingly crash-lands, and it is suggested that Cal’s lightsaber somehow ends up in the hands of an Imperial senator. It is presumed that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be akin to an action-adventure Soulslike as was its predecessor, but many questions still linger. Cal will wield a blaster pistol in the sequel, which opens the door to more fascinating and engaging options when it comes to the customization introduced in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s Lightsaber Customization is Great
Cal’s lightsaber adds to Star Wars’ iconography with an authentically shattered hilt that belonged to his Master, Jaro Tapal. Boasting Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s most thorough customization options, players can collect and assign the blade’s color, as well as the hilt’s emitter, switch, sleeve, and material.
Then, once Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s double-bladed lightsaber attachment is installed, a second emitter may also be customized. There are a ton of choices for each component and color that players can select, and while the hilt is relatively small on screen during heated moments of gameplay, it is still a fantastic way for players to personalize their experience with a unique-looking weapon.
The lightsaber even remains customized within cutscenes, which shows an effort not to disrupt the player’s immersion. For narrative purposes, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s teaser has portrayed Cal’s lightsaber in its original appearance.
But it would only make sense for this customization to be reprised in the sequel since it was an optional yet instrumental feature in the original. Moreover, that customization should be extended to Cal’s new weapon in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as well as other articles players could customize in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Customization is Likely to Be Expanded in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Like Cal’s lightsaber, his blaster could receive the same intricacy in customization. Different parts could be modded in-and-out, otherwise the aesthetic of the blaster could be changed entirely to replicate a DL-44, DH-17, DL-18, and many more. Besides lightsaber customization, however, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order fell considerably short when it came to other customization options. Players could customize the Mantis, BD-1, and Cal’s outfit and poncho, but only with regard to their colorways.
These distinct color palettes, along with lightsaber materials and colorways, composed the entirety of lootable chests in the environment. As a result, many fans grew understandably weary of only having a new poncho color palette to swap to. This limited customization was not necessarily bad, but in comparison to the breadth of customization allotted to Cal’s lightsaber, the Mantis, BD-1, and Cal’s clothing were always doomed to pale in comparison.
Customization will be one of the features that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor hopefully improves over the original, which may mean that clothing or ship components are introduced with drastic changes to how it depicts their aesthetics. For example, such changes could include an entirely unique wardrobe for Cal. More will eventually be shared about the sequel, and it will be exciting to see if and how customization is reintroduced.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is expected to launch in 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
