Sentinels are the “jack of all trades,” so to speak. They combine many of the strengths inherent in the Guardian and Consular classes. For new players, getting the hang of the Sentinel lies in choosing the best Attributes and Skills at the Character Creation screen. There are, of course, many ways to build an effective Sentinel. This guide represents a prospective Sentinel build that players may take.

Starting Attributes

Players don’t have to wait long before the first major decision of the game is given to them. At the Character Creation screen, fans must allocate their character’s Attributes. Six Attributes are present in KOTOR 2, which include Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. As a Sentinel, players are shooting for a healthy mix of all these characteristics:

Strength: 12 Dexterity: 12 Constitution: 10 Intelligence: 14 Wisdom: 16 Charisma: 12

Strength

Strength determines the chance to hit enemies as well as how much damage will be done to them. A Strength of 12 will ensure the Jedi Exile can still pack a punch, though not quite so effectively as a Guardian. This build will rely on a mixture between lightsaber combat and Force powers. As such, a value of 12 is a good place to start for Strength.

Dexterity

Dexterity represents a player’s defense. The stat dictates how likely the Jedi Exile will successfully dodge incoming attacks. Much like Strength, a value of 12 for Dexterity is a happy medium at the beginning. Players who are naturally more defensive-minded will want to raise Dexterity in the future. Those who favor offense will increase Strength instead.

Constitution

Constitution is related to the player’s Health bar. A higher Constitution value grants the player more Hit Points when they level up, ensuring they stay alive longer in a fight. Keeping this stat at 10, in the beginning, may seem risky, but players will have other offensive tools at their disposal to overcome enemies in the early stages. Since Sentinels are proficient with the Force, other modes of healing are an option in addition to standard Med Packs.

Intelligence

Intelligence is useful for the Sentinel, unlike the other two classes, who tend to rely on it less. A higher Intelligence stat imparts a greater number of Skill Points each time the player levels up. Since Sentinels can make the greatest use out of Class Skills, having more points to spend is a major advantage.

Wisdom

Wisdom is related to the player’s Force bar. A higher value in this stat allows the player to employ a greater number of Force abilities before running out. As a Sentinel, players will use a mixture of Force powers and lightsaber techniques in their arsenal. As such, a starting value of 16 is an acceptable place to start.

Charisma

Charisma has multiple uses in KOTOR 2. It enhances the potency of the player character’s Force powers while also increasing the hit chance of one’s companions. It’s also directly related to the Persuade skill, which proves highly useful in a playthrough.

Starting Skills

Unlike the other classes, the Sentinel makes use of 6 Class Skills, rendering them exceptionally versatile characters. To Clarify, Class Skills only take 1 Skill Point to increase, while Cross-Class Skills need 2 Skill Points. Only Demolitions and Repair are Cross-Class Skills for the Sentinel (and they’re not particularly important).

Players may want to consider investing the majority of their Skill Points into Security, Computer Use, and Persuade. Security allows players to unlock doors and containers without damaging their contents. Computer Use enables hacking with fewer spikes. Persuade opens up a plethora of additional dialogue options for added flavor and rewards. Prioritize all three!

Sentinels earn more Feats than Consulars, but less than Guardians. Assuming one’s Sentinel favors melee weapons/lightsabers as their primary weapon, nabbing these Feats and upgrading them is typically a good idea:

Flurry Power Attack Dueling Conditioning Finesse: Lightsabers Two-Weapon Fighting (if players prefer to wield two weapons instead of one) Force Immunity

Although Sentinels won’t match Consulars in their mastery of the Force, they can still unleash a few choice powers. Of course, many of the Force Powers players choose to utilize will depend on their alignment. Broadly speaking, Sentinels can’t go wrong with these selections:

Battle Meditation (Universal) Affect Mind (Universal) Burst of Speed (Universal) Heal (Light Side) Force Aura (Light Side) Force Valor (Light Side) Shock (Dark Side) Wound (Dark Side) Fear (Dark Side)

Prestige Classes

When players reach Level 15 and have gained enough alignment points (either Light or Dark), they can speak with Kreia to unlock a Prestige class. Fans can select any of the three options, regardless of their starting class. They include:

Jedi Weapon Master/Sith Marauder (Guardian Class) Jedi Watchman/Sith Assassin (Sentinel Class) Jedi Master/Sith Lord (Consular Class)

Even though any Prestige class can be chosen, for the sake of simplicity and continuity, beginners should stick with the Sentinel class. In this case, they should choose Jedi Watchman/Sith Assassin. Nevertheless, Sentinels are versatile enough so that choosing a different Prestige class is a viable option.
