The game is praised by fans as one of the finest Star Wars games ever made, with an amazing world and a compelling story that propels it to near-stratospheric levels of brilliance. Of course, the game has aged quite a bit, and new fans who want to get into this title might find themselves struggling to enjoy it at times. Thankfully, the following gameplay mods should be varied and engaging enough to keep people interested in this title to the very end.
Updated on May 20, 2022, by Ritwik Mitra:Star Wars is one of the most popular franchises of all time. The original trilogy blew everyone’s minds when it was released back in the day, with the IP turning into one of the most notable and well-known series that is still going strong to this day. The fact that Star Wars has enjoyed multiple movies, TV shows, and everything else along the same lines shows just how popular this IP really is.
Star Wars has enjoyed its fair share of success in the video game department as well, with most people considering Knights of the Old Republic to be one of the very best in the series. The game features memorable characters, a great story, and one of the greatest plot twists in video game history. Playing this game in modern times might be a chore, but the following best mods for KOTOR will ensure that the gameplay side of things is smoothed out considerably.
10 Revan Items
As players progress through the events of Knights of the Old Republic, they’ll soon realize that their identity is something way more than a run-of-the-mill Jedi. It turns out that the player-character is actually Darth Revan himself, who was captured and mind-wiped by the Jedi in an effort to make this person see the error of their ways and join the Dark Side.
Regardless of the path that players might take, there’s non denying that Darth Revan looks extremely intimidating. Most people would want to use the equipment of this character at some point, and this is made possible with the Revan Items mod. Now, players can don the outfit and lightsabers of this iconic villain!
9 Consular Sentinel Class Skill Swap
After a certain point in the game, players will be able to unlock Jedi classes for their character to specialize in. The three classes are the Jedi Guardian, Consular, and Sentinel, and all of them seem equally viable in combat. However, the truth is that the Jedi Sentinel is the least-effective class here due to a lack of abilities and the like.
This almost seems like a bug, and a mod has come out to fix the same. With this mod, The Jedi Sentinel gets the Computer Use, Demolitions, and Repair Class skills that were present in the Jedi Consular skill instead. It’s a simple yet nifty way to make all three classes a ton of fun to use.
8 Easy Pazaak
Pazaak is a unique minigame introduced in Knights of the Old Republic that serves as a pretty decent distraction from the events of the main game. It’s also a great way to attain credits and some valuable items, although this minigame can frustrate certain players due to how complex it seems at first glance.

However, this doesn’t need to be the case, and players can actually activate an easier version of this minigame with mods instead of just ignoring it outright. It’s not the most necessary mod in the world but does wonders for players who want to immerse themselves in all the systems of Knights of the Old Republic without any major caveats.
7 KotOR System Overhaul
There are several systems at play in Knights of the Old Republic. This is to be expected of an RPG with complex systems, and BioWare did a pretty stellar job of balancing all these systems to help players enjoy the most optimized experience possible.
However, some people would either want these systems to be changed or just want them to be different from a normal playthrough. The KotOR System Overhaul does wonders in this regard and ensures that people can enjoy a fresh experience or just avoid certain annoyances in the game that might be bugging them.
6 Extended Duration Force Powers
Using the Force in Knights of the Old Republic is easily one of the most enjoyable parts of the game. Any fan of Star Wars who wants to live out their fantasy of being a Jedi will go haywire as they access the vast array of powers that this game has to offer.
However, some people feel that the Force powers don’t really last that long, making their usefulness in battle pretty minimal. This is especially true when it comes to the buffs and debuffs in this game, which are largely ineffective barring some exceptions. With this mod, players can now use all the Force powers at their disposal without worrying too much about their application in battle.
5 Content Pack – Feats And Powers
Along with the Jedi powers that have already been discussed on this list, Knights of the Old Republic also features a bunch of feats that allow players to improve their basic combat skills as well. However, some people feel that the number of feats and powers in the game is simply way too lacking for it to be interesting.

Thankfully, this content pack is here to save the day for players who might be facing this issue. True to its name, it adds a bunch of new feats and powers that are a blast to use in battle — quite literally, at times — and make for a great experience indeed.
4 Jedi From The Start
The beginning of Knights of the Old Republic is pretty great and establishes a central conflict that the player is caught right in the middle of. However, without Jedi powers or the skills required to use a lightsaber, this portion of the game can get somewhat annoying at times…especially on repeated playthroughs!
With the Jedi from the Start mod, this issue is taken care of in a flash. Now, players can breeze through the start of the game with their Jedi powers and make the initial section of gameplay far more enjoyable. Even the dialogue and other such interactions present near the start of the game are overhauled to make this mod feel more immersive!
3 Brotherhood Of Shadow – Solomon’s Revenge
One of the most popular mods for Knights of the Old Republic is a fan expansion pack that features a ton of work and effort. Brotherhood of Shadow is a testament to what modders can accomplish when they’re really passionate about their project.
Everything from new quests to a voice-acted story spanning eight hours can be enjoyed with this mod. It’s a must-have for fans of Knights of the Old Republic who want to experience more adventures in the game.
2 KotOR 1 Restoration 1.2
When people talk about content restoration packs in the context of Star Wars gams, the first thing that comes to mind is the incredible The Sith Lords Restored Content Modification for Knights of the Old Republic 2. However, credit should be given to this mod as well, which restores lost content in the first game.

There are several ways this mod impacts the game, including an “Impossible” difficulty setting for fans of the game who want more of a challenge with the gameplay. Along with this, there are several other aspects of the title that are expanded upon to make the game more fleshed-out and enjoyable.
1 The Comprehensive KotOR Bug Fix Collection
Bugs are a huge detractor that prevents most players from enjoying their games. While Knights of the Old Republic is nowhere near as buggy as its sequel, it still has its fair share of minor glitches that can be quite annoying to deal with after a point.
This is where the Comprehensive KotOR Bug Fix Collection comes into the picture. As stated in the title, it makes a series of bug fixes to make the experience of playing Knights of the Old Republic that much more engaging and satisfying to play through.
