The latest effort that Disney has put forth is the early release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The latest Star Wars film is now available to purchase via digital platforms ahead of schedule.

Unfortunately, Disney doesn’t appear to have bumped up the physical edition release date of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Doing so might be impossible, to be fair. There are far fewer restrictions or limitations when it comes to releasing something digitally. Physical media for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be available starting March 31.

This isn’t the only thing Disney has done to try and make the weekend a little easier for folks stuck at home. Disney has also released Frozen 2 early on its Disney+ streaming service. Frozen 2’s original release date on Disney+ was June 26. In other words, Disney went out of its way to ensure that Frozen 2 was available as soon as possible. It’s a direct action due to the coronavirus. Families still need to subscribe to Disney+ to watch it, but it’s better than nothing.

While Disney hasn’t announced any further actions to try and get more media in the hands of fans, it’s not out of question. Stay tuned for more information on Disney’s plans soon.

Disney has unfortunately been forced to make some negative decisions as a result of the coronavirus, too. This past week Disney made the decision to postpone movies including Mulan. It’s also entirely possible that Disney eventually delays Black Widow, too. Disney has also shut down production on several upcoming Marvel TV shows, including Loki and Wanda+Vision. Disney has even shut down Disneyland. The coronavirus has thrown all manner of plans out the window, but like everyone else Disney is still doing its best.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available digitally right now.
