The Acolyte, set to feature a Sith-led story, seems pretty Jedi-forward in these new shots leaked from the series’ UK filming location. Several previously-confirmed cast members can be seen in full costume along with a few unidentified newcomers, though Star Wars fans will immediately notice the classic Jedi robes worn by a few. Of course, given how the show is set in the final days of the High Republic era, it’s also entirely possible that some of these robed figures could be Sith in disguise.

Courtesy of The Daily Mail, the set photos feature a wide variety of characters and even alien races. But many will quickly take note of Squid Game star Lee Jung-Jae clad in a hooded Jedi robe and looking particularly master-like. The Acolyte will reportedly center on a former Padawan apprentice reuniting with her Jedi Master to investigate a mysterious series of crimes, only to uncover an even more sinister plot. It seems like a decent guess that Lee’s character is that Jedi Master, playing opposite series lead Amandla Stenberg as the apprentice (though she doesn’t appear to be present in any of the leaked photos).

Also present is Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) as an unnamed Padawan who can be identified as such by the trademark skinny braid worn by Jedi apprentices. But here’s where it gets a little more varied, as several very cool-looking humanoid aliens were also glimpsed. One, who appears to sport an intricate wig, might be Logan star Dafne Keen, though it could also be another unannounced actress. But either way, she isn’t the only alien, as a striking-looking spike-headed Zabrak was also on set, though it’s unclear who’s under the makeup.

Several unidentified warriors can also be seen, wearing similar garb to the first alien. But perhaps the most exciting addition is what appears to be a Jedi Wookiee. There’s no way to tell who’s underneath that fuzzy costume. But the sleeveless tunic seems like a more Wookiee-friendly version of the classic Jedi garb. Plus, it wouldn’t be the first time this particular species has been seen among their ranks, with one even showing up in the latest trailer for Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 2.

This is a lot of info to go on, even if there are no new plot details to go with the photos. Eager fans now have a better idea of what The Acolyte might look like and who’s playing whom. The wait for the upcoming series just got that much harder. The series will also star Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Margarita Levieva.

Star Wars: The Acolyte currently has no release date but will likely release in 2023 on Disney Plus.
