It has been quite a while since Star Wars: The Old Republic’s last expansion, Knights of the Eternal Throne, launched all the way back in 2016. However, the game has maintained a dedicated player base, and many still find Star Wars: The Old Republic worth visiting as the game approaches its 10 year anniversary.

The new expansion continues the ongoing storyline of Star Wars: The Old Republic and sees players chasing down the renegade Sith from previous expansions known as Darth Malagus. Developer BioWare Austin says that the expansion will take players to new planets, including an aquatic planet, a mountainous planet, and various Operations in the remains of a research station in deep space. Star Wars: The Old Republic has been praised by critics and players for its focus on story-telling, and the developers claim that the newest expansion will continue the MMO’s legacy of creating interesting new stories set in the Star Wars universe.
The expansion will also feature a new Combat Style mechanic that will allow players to customize how they want their characters to approach combat and take advantage of mixing multiple classes. It will also include a variety of quality of life improvements that aim to help streamline the game. These include changes to equipping items and creating loadouts, as well as updating the game’s character creator.
BioWare also hopes that the changes will help attract new players to the MMO, as the improvements will also make getting used to the game’s systems easier and more friendly for new players now that Star Wars: The Old Republic is available on Steam.
All in all, the new expansion looks like it will bring a lot of new content for fans to enjoy in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The new features of the expansion seem likely to make the game smoother and more enjoyable for existing players while also helping new players jump in and start their journey up to the new level cap of 80. The expansion is scheduled to launch this holiday season, so it will be interesting to see if it helps cement Star Wars: The Old Republic as one of the best Star Wars games that fans can play.
