Green-Beckham informed coach Bob Stoops of his decision to turn pro a week ago, Stoops said during his end-of-season press conference Tuesday.
Touted as one of the most talented receivers in college football, Green-Beckham spent the 2014 season on the Sooners’ scout team after transferring from Missouri following multiple off-field indiscretions.
After an initial suspension, Green-Beckham was dismissed from Missouri’s football team in April 2014 after being investigated for a burglary in which he allegedly shoved a woman down several stairs. Twice has he been arrested for marijuana-related charges since 2012.
“Hopefully this has helped him moved forward in a positive direction,” Stoops said of Green-Beckham’s time at Oklahoma. “He could have been a big piece going forward but obviously that didn’t work out that way.”
Green-Beckham, one of the nation’s top recruits coming out of high school, caught 87 passes for 1,278 yards and 17 TDs in two seasons with the Tigers. The 6-6, 225- pound receiver has been compared to Lions star Calvin Johnson with similar build and speed.
