Starbucks barista Stephanie shared her regular customer’s order, which she says they purchase every single morning at her location. The order? Twenty shots of espresso with five pumps of classic syrup added, all in one cup.
“Everyday this lady comes here and gets 20 espresso shots with five pumps of classic syrup,” explained TikTok user @sk_d0ntplay, showing the order on her till.
The total comes to a whopping $22.57, paid every single morning by the customer. “Now that’s a lot of espresso,” captioned @sk_d0ntplay. The video has since gained 500,000 views in just two days.
“It is just for her,” the barista confirmed in a comment. “I have asked her before. Besides, she gets it all in one cup and tastes it right in front of me.”
According to the National Coffee Association, 70 percent of coffee drinkers between the ages of 18 and 24 have a coffee with their morning meal and 90 percent of older drinkers do the same.
One coffee is the norm, but 20 espresso shots tips way over the recommended amount and more. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration ranks 400 milligrams as a safe amount of caffeine for adults to consume daily.
As per Consumer Reports, a Starbucks espresso shot contains 75 milligrams of caffeine, making the 20 shot-strong drink 1,500 milligram of caffeine and over three times the recommended amount.
It’s because of this that viewers were left in disbelief at the order.
“I… have no words and need to know everything about the person ordering this,” wrote one TikTok user.
“My toxic trait is that I am tempted to try this,” added another.
“Praying for her,” joked a viewer.
It might be the strongest drink you’ll see at a coffee shop, but it might not be the weirdest, with baristas across America regularly sharing the strange orders they serve customers.
Earlier this month, a barista took to Twitter to share the “worst order” they made while working at the coffee chain.
The customer ordered an Iced Chocolate Almondmilk Shaken Espresso but made various tweaks to the drink. Customer Rachel added in her own ingredients, requesting five shots, no ice, two pumps of chai, three pumps of raspberry syrup, one pump of vanilla, one pump of ginger syrup, one pump of classic syrup, one pump sugar-free vanilla, one pump of caramel sauce and two raw sugars.
Specifying it to be in a venti cup, Rachel then continued to add more: two pumps of caramel syrup, two pumps of toffee nut syrup, vanilla sweet cream cold foam, a long shot and coconut milk.
Newsweek has asked Stephanie for comment.
