While in the desert, players are going to find unexpected monsters and even some unique items. There is even a way to get to the desert before the bus is operational again. The desert is full of mystery and is ready for players to explore.
10 Can Get To Desert By Completing Vault
As the player tries to complete bundles in the community center, unlocking Calico Desert should come easy. Players will need to put their gold into the vault, unlocking the different bundles by purchasing them. In total, players should expect to spend a total of 42,500 gold.
While that might seem like a high price, each bundle unlocked will give the player a reward. Chocolate cake, a lightning rod, quality fertilizer, and Crystalarium will be given. After every bundle is done, the bus to Calico Desert will be repaired.
9 Desert Obelisk Can Be Bought To Teleport
If the player does not want to use their gold to buy the bundles, there is another option to get to the desert. Warp totems or the desert obelisk can be crafted and used for transport. By completing the Goblin Problem quest for the wizard, the Desert Obelisk can be bought for 1,000,000 gold.
The obelisk is reusable but requires 20 iridium bars, 10 coconuts, and 10 cactus fruit to construct. There is also no worry about getting stuck in the desert after teleporting, as the bus will be there to take players back home. Seems like someone just doesn’t want to work.
8 Unique Seeds Bought In Desert
In the bottom-left part of the desert, players will encounter a store called Oasis. Inside is a merchant named Sandy who will sell unique seeds to the player. These include the cactus seeds, starfruit seeds, rhubarb seeds, and beet seeds. These are sold every day, so players do not need to visit multiple times to get each type.

As well as the seeds, players can also purchase potted cacti and a wall cactus. The prices for the seeds are reasonable as well, making it easy for players to purchase multiple packets.
7 Casino Located In Desert
As well as selling seeds, the Oasis shop is also home to a casino. Players will be blocked by a bouncer until they complete the quest The Mysterious Qi. The quest requires players to perform random tasks, such as putting a rainbow shell in the train station box and putting 10 beets in Mayor Lewis’ fridge.
After doing Mr. Qi’s quests, the bouncer will allow the player inside. Players can trade 1000 gold for 100 Qi coins and play the machines. Games include slot machines and CalicoJack – another version of Blackjack.
6 Unlock The Galaxy Sword
In the top right area of the desert, players can find three pillars close to each other. Acquiring the Dwarvish translation guide and reading a grave in the cemetery, players will be pointed towards these pillars. Having a Prismatic Shard and walking into the center will reward players with a unique weapon.
The weapon is called the Galaxy Sword and will also consume the Prismatic Shard. The sword deals 60-80 damage, making it useful for combatting enemies in the mines. Just be careful, another Prismatic Shard cannot be used to obtain another. Instead, players will need to purchase it from the Adventurer’s Guild for 50,000 gold.
5 Skull Key Opened Desert Caverns
Players who make it to level 120 in the mines will be rewarded with a skull key. For anyone wondering, this opens up the Skull Caverns located in the desert. Going into the cave in the top left of the map will reveal a skull door, with this key opening it. Now players can fight through an even harder area.

Unlike the other mines, there is no way to instantly return to certain areas. Even if the player gets to level 100 in the Skull Cavern, returning later brings them back to level 1.
4 Secret Decal Found Here
Players might think there is only one area to fish in the Calico Desert, but there is another. Located at the bottom of the map, there is a cliff area players can see. Looks are deceiving, however, as players are able to cast their lines into this pool of water.
Doing this will allow players to acquire a piece of art decal. This decal comes in the form of a pyramid. While multiple versions of this can be fished, none of them can be sold.
3 Two Unique Artifacts Found Here
Any player wanting to complete the museum artifacts need to look in the Calico Desert. There are two artifacts that can be found in only this location. These artifacts come in the form of the golden relic and the golden mask. Looking for the worms will give players either a 3% chance or a 6% chance to find either relic.

If players luck into multiple versions of either artifact, the artifacts can be sold for a profit. The golden relic goes for 250 gold, while the golden mask can be sold for 500 gold.
2 Dinosaurs Found In Desert
While going through the Skull Cavern, players might stumble upon a prehistoric floor. This area will be full of dinosaurs, allowing players to collect some rare drops. Killing one of these dinosaurs will give players the prehistoric tibia, prehistoric rib, prehistoric vertebra, dinosaur eggs, a diamond, or a Prismatic Shard.
These dinosaurs are a threat to the player as well, offering 15 damage if they get too close. The dinosaur’s HP is also set at 500, but any player brave enough to fight will get valuable loot.
1 Trader Doesn’t Take Gold
When first entering the Calico Desert, the bus will drive by a tent with a camel. This is the desert trader, allowing players to purchase unique items from the area. Uniquely enough, this trader does not actually sell their items for gold. Most items are bought with omni geodes, bat wings, pearls, or ores the player can find.
What players can buy in return include bombs, artifact troves, expresso, and household items. For players who really want headwear, a cowboy hat or a turban can be purchased with 333 omni geodes. This vendor also gives players the Void Ghost Pendant, allowing Krobus to move in after obtaining max hearts.
