These villagers live in and around Pelican Town in Stardew Valley. All of the citizens have their own lives, meaning their own interests and daily routines and much, much, more. One of them, for example, is Krobus! They’re definitely one of the strangest NPC’s that you’ll encounter and there is a lot to discover about them.
10 An Actual Monster
The reason Krobus looks like a monster is because he is, in fact, a monster. Just like the ones found in the Mines, Skull Cavern, the Quarry Mine, the Mutant Bug Lair, and the Volcano Dungeon. Unlike them, however, he is not hostile.
Actually, Krobus tells the player that he considers the monsters his friends, whether they are Slimes, Bugs, Crabs, Bats, Golems, Sprites, Ghosts, Brutes, Shamans, Squids, Mummies, Dinosaurs, Serpents, Sparkers, Skulls, or even Skeletons.
9 In The Sewers
Krobus lives in The Sewers because he is a shadow person. This location’s entrance is placed at the sewer cover south of Pelican Town. And there is another entrance at the grates south of Cindersap Forest.
This location gets unlocked once the player obtains the Rusty Key. The item is given by Gunther after they donate 60 artifacts or minerals to the Museum. (He will drop by the house.)
8 The 24/7 Shop
At his home, (in The Sewers), Krobus runs a shop. Krobus’ Shop, unlike most others in the game, is open all hours and every day. Even on festival days!

He always sells Sign Of The Vessel, Monster Fireplace, Void Eggs, Void Essence, Solar Essence, Stardrop, Crystal Floor Recipe, Wicked Statue Recipe, and Return Scepter. On Mondays, 50 Slimes are available; on Tuesdays, 1 Omni George is available; on Wednesdays, 5 Fish or Magnets are available; on Thursdays, 10 Mixed Seeds are available; on Fridays, 1 Iridium Sprinkler is available; on Saturdays, 5 Cooked Dishes (randomly) are available; and on Sundays, 10 Bat Wings are available.
7 A Lonely Villager
While most of the villagers have some kind of relationship with the other villagers, at least one, Krobus keeps up with nobody but himself. In fact, he is not a fan of dwarves specifically.
Krobus tells the player there was a war that lasted a thousand years between his shadow people and the dwarven people. He goes as far as telling them a dwarven assassin would come for him if the dwarves found out where he lived. (The Wizard keeps him in check though.)
6 Things He Likes
Besides Artisan Goods, Cooking, Flowers, Foraged Minerals, Fruit Tree Fruits, Gems, and Vegetables, Krobus likes Gold Bars and Quartz especially.
Gold Bars are made by smelting 5 Gold Ores in a furnace with 1 Coal. And Quartz is found through foraging in the Mines or Skull Cavern.
5 Things He Dislikes
Krobus does not like Chanterelle, Common Mushrooms, Daffodils, Dandelions, Ginger, Hazelnuts, Holly, Leeks, Life Elixirs, Magma Caps, Morel, Purple Mushrooms, Salmonberry, Snow Yams, or Winter Roots.
The player finds Chanterelle, Common Mushroom, and Hazelnut through foraging in the fall. And they find Daffodil, Dandelion, Leek, Morel, and Salmonberry through foraging in the spring. Also, the player finds Holly, Snow Yam, and Winter Root through foraging in the winter. Additionally, they find Ginger on Ginger Island, Magma Cap in the Volcano Dungeon, and Purple Mushroom in the Mines; Life Elixir is crafted, as well.
4 Things He Loves
There are a handful of things Krobus loves. There is Diamond, Iridium Bar, Pumpkin, and Wild Horseradish. Also, he loves Void Egg and Void Mayonnaise.

Diamonds are mined, and Iridium Bars are smelted in the furnace. Pumpkins are farmed only in the fall, and Wild Horseradish get foraged only in the spring. As for Void Egg and Void Mayonnaise, the former is taken from Void Chicken and then used to make the latter in a Mayonnaise Machine.
3 Things He Hates
Krobus hates everything! Seriously, all of the Universal Hates in the game are on his list. (Except Void Mayonnaise, of course!)
This means all Bait, all Fossils, all Monster Loot, and all Trash.
2 The Perfect Roommate
Despite being a monster and a loner, Krobus will actually move in with the player as long as they are not married. He moves into the farmhouse three days after the player accepts the Void Ghost Pendant, and adds his own room too. Krobus only leaves the house on rainy days, where he goes to the front porch and ponders life.
Because the relationship is platonic, kissing is replaced with hugging and there is no actual ceremony. He also does not get jealous if they cheat and may be divorced via eviction. Krobus does no chores and will not adopt (or create) children with the player.
1 Sea Monster Rider
There are only two Heart Events with Krobus. At three hearts, he will send the player a recipe in the mail for a Dark Sign. It is a sign, but goth.
However, at fourteen hearts, they will see Krobus do something extremely cool. Go to the beach between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m. on a non-rainy day. He will be there and suddenly a sea monster will appear and it will raise a tentacle for Krobus who hops on for a quick joyride.
