Each fish in Stardew Valley has a specific time of day and seasons they can be caught. For example, legendary fish in Stardew Valley are some of the hardest fish to catch as they can only be found in very specific locations, sometimes which require the completion of difficult quests first, such as unlocking the sewer in Pelican Town. And fishing itself in Stardew Valley is a very unique mechanic that players are very split on. Some love it while others think it’s too difficult, but it certainly comes with a learning curve, making catching fish like the legendaries much more difficult than simply being in the right place at the right time.

But luckily, the Albacore isn’t too difficult to catch, but some players have a hard time finding it because its time window is shorter than most fish. Albacore can be found during Fall and Winter seasons in Stardew Valley, however, while the weather doesn’t make a difference when hunting for the fish, its designated time of day changes depending on the season. During Fall, it can only be found in the ocean between 6 AM and 11 AM, but during the Winter it has a larger window of 6 PM to 2 AM.
Albacore is not used in any Bundles, including any Remixed Bundles from Stardew Valley’s 1.5 update. It’s an insignificant fish in terms of its uses as well, as it only makes the normal fish recipes—Maki Rolls, Quality Fertilizer, and Sashimi. And in terms of clothing, using an Albacore at the sewing machine creates the Sailor Shirt, which is dyeable. Albacore also only makes normal Roe by keeping them in the farm fish pond.
The most important task Albacore is used in is the Fish Stew quest in Stardew Valley. Gus will request an Albacore by mail on the 26th of Winter, which only allots the player with a couple more days to complete the task if they don’t already have an Albacore in their inventory. The reward for completing Gus’ quest is 400 gold and 1 Friendship heart.
Unfortunately, no villagers in Stardew Valley love or even like Albacore as a gift, so don’t give it to any marriage prospects. Most villagers dislike the fish, though a few downright hate it and others feel neutral towards Albacore.
Stardew Valley is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
