Penny is one of Stardew Valley’s sweetest villagers, and she has an interesting backstory that’ll tug at players’ heartstrings to boot. She’s had a difficult life, but her kindness and her selflessness are a draw for many farmers new to the town. In this guide, we’ll give plenty of advice on how to get closer to Penny, including her likes, dislikes, and her overall schedule.
Penny’s Regular Schedule For Every Season
Each individual character in Stardew Valley has a schedule that they adhere to. Their schedule might depend on the season, the day, and the weather, but memorizing where they might be or what they might be doing can be a massive help to any players who have their sights set on getting to know a specific character.
Penny’s schedule is quite easy to remember; she teaches the local children, Vincent and Jas, throughout the week, and can often be found in or near the Museum. She doesn’t have many variations to her schedule, either; the only notable differences from her usual day-to-day schedule are her annual check-up at Harvey’s Clinic on Winter 4 and her tendency to stay inside her trailer on rainy days.

The Best Gifts For Penny: Likes, Loves, Dislikes, and Hates
Just as each character in Stardew Valley will have their own schedule, they each have individual likes and dislikes when it comes to receiving gifts, too. Gifting is one of the most important parts of Stardew Valley - not only is it important in keeping friendships with other characters solid, but it also raises heart points faster than pretty much any other option in the game, streamlining the process.
Though Penny’s likes and loves can be a little difficult to remember since her tastes are so varied, her dislikes and hates are much easier. Avoid giving Penny any kind of alcoholic drink, or even ingredients that go into alcohol - these are among some of her most despised items in the game. As well as this, be certain to give Penny a gift on her birthday, Fall 2 - all villagers love gifts on their birthday, and the player will receive a huge boost in friendship points for remembering the date!

Movie Theater: Penny’s Favorites
The Movie Theater was added to Stardew Valley during the 1.4 Update. As well as adding a ton of content into the game, it has also soon cemented itself as one of the best ways to raise friendships with characters. If players are interested in seeing a movie with Penny, just head to the Movie Theater and buy a ticket for 1,000g. After buying the ticket, find Penny in the Valley and gift the ticket to her; then, before the day is over, head back to the Movie Theater and catch a screening with her.
While at the Movie Theater, players can choose different movies to watch and snacks to buy. Each character has different tastes in both movies and snacks; thankfully, Penny’s are pretty easy to remember. By taking her to a screening she’ll like and by buying her snacks she’ll enjoy, the player will receive a massive boost in friendship points. Conversely, if players ignore her tastes, they won’t benefit nearly as much.

Penny’s Heart Events
The relationship between the player and any specific character is represented in Stardew Valley through hearts. Once a player receives enough hearts with a given character, they’ll then be able to trigger a heart event - a short cutscene giving an insight into the character’s life. Penny has plenty of heart events to witness, and they’re well worth watching.
Two Hearts: enter Pelican Town between 9am and 2pm on any sunny day. Four Hearts: enter the Trailer while she’s there. Six Hearts: enter the Trailer while she’s there. Eight Hearts: enter Cindersap Forest between 9am and 4pm. Ten Hearts: after receiving a letter from Penny, meet her at the pool in the Spa between 7pm and 12am. Fourteen Hearts: enter the Farmhouse between 3pm and 7pm while she’s there.
What Happens After Marrying Penny?
Penny will move into the farmhouse with the player after the two are married. To help her settle into married life, she’ll add a room to the right of the farmhouse with several big bookshelves, as well as a small garden right behind the farmhouse where she can often be found reading. Penny will still work at the museum and will still help Jas and Vincent; she can be found at the museum on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Marrying Penny also comes with its own benefits even after the wedding. On rainy mornings, Penny may give the player Egg, Mixed Seeds, Large Milk, or a Geode. On certain mornings, she’ll make the player Hashbrowns, Pancakes, or an Omelet for breakfast, and in the evenings, she can make Carp Surprise, Crispy Bass, Fried Eel, Salmon Dinner, or Vegetable Medley for dinner.
Stardew Valley is currently available for Mobile, PC, PS4, PlayStation Vita, Switch, and Xbox One.
