However, sometimes farmers in Stardew Valley need something a little extra to get them ahead of the game. That’s where the Traveling Cart comes in. Selling a whole host of items, this somewhat mysterious shop sells a random selection of items at slightly inflated prices. The trade-off for this price hike is the ability to get unique items or items that are currently out of season.

When The Traveling Cart Appears

Players may think the Traveling Cart’s appearance is entirely random when first starting the game, but this is not the case. From dawn till dusk, the shop will be in its usual spot in the northeast of Cindersap Forest every Friday and Sunday.

On those days, the shop is open until 8 pm and will have a different selection of goods and different prices for most items. Additionally, it will be present all three days of the Night Market, an event that runs on the beach from 5 pm to 2 am during Winter days 15, 16, and 17. There it’ll have the same amount of the shop’s different types of goods.

Standard Stock

Out of the items the Traveling Cart can sell, they are categorized into different pools that are randomly selected for each appearance. Ten items on offer will be from the Standard Stock pool, which is by far the biggest, as it covers almost every item players will encounter on their farm on a day-to-day basis.

Cooked dishes are abundant, which can be great for earning hearts with the farmer’s chosen Bachelor. Every standard crop, seed, and foraging item may appear alongside several common fish. Artisan Goods will be in supply, too, from Caviar to Wine.

Resources from mining like ore, stone, and wood might be sold in small quantities, as well as craftable items like sprinklers and bombs. They even sell monster loot, making things like Void Essence a little easier to get hold of, provided farmers have the coin for it.

Furniture

Alongside the Standard Stock items, players will have available to them one item from the Furniture pool. Naturally, this is a lot smaller, but many of these items are likely to be sold at a much lower price than players may find in the Carpenter’s Shop, making it perfect for those who are yet to get their hands on the Furniture Catalogue.

There’s a wide range on offer, with lots of different colors and stylistic variations of chairs, benches, and couches. There are loads of different tables available, with some fun stuff like the Puzzle Table or Candy Table rarely available.

Players will be able to decorate their house too with a selection of different bookcases, knick-knacks, and lamps. Not to mention the many different paintings and wall hangings that may appear. The final category is the decorative plants, most of which are fairly standard, but the Tree of the Winter Star is the cream of the crop, perfect for the game’s holiday-themed events.

Special Stock

The final category has a random chance to appear but features some noteworthy items. The Rare Seed is guaranteed to appear in Spring and Summer for 1,000g, with a small chance for a stack of 5. These seeds must be planted in the Fall (or in the Greenhouse) and will take 24 days to grow and produce a Sweet Gem Berry, one of the most valuable fruits in the game.

Players who missed some of the year’s events will be happy to know that one of the Rarecrows will occasionally be on offer in the shop in Fall and Winter for 4,000g. It’s an excellent tool for rounding out players’ collections. During all seasons, the Coffee Bean has a 25% chance to appear for 2,500g, giving easy access to a crop that is often a pain to get a hold of.

Finally, there is one item exclusive to multiplayer games. The crafting recipe for the Wedding Ring will be guaranteed to appear in the Traveling Cart until it is bought, allowing those in a multiplayer game to craft the expensive ring that allows them to propose to one another.

Stardew Valley was released on February 26, 2017, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and many other platforms.
