Luckily, there is a way to increase maximum energy permanently: Stardrops! These mystical purple fruits will add 34 max energy points to the player’s energy bar — permanently. There are seven of them in total, meaning a total maximum energy stat of 508 points. Since players start with 270 max energy at the beginning of the game, this is quite the jump. So, anyone looking for these powerful items can find them in the following locations!

Stardew Valley Fair Shop

Likely the first Stardrop that many people will encounter, this one can be found for sale at the Stardew Valley Fair on Fall 16. However, it cannot be purchased with gold, and instead must be exchanged for Star Tokens. These are the Fair’s currency and can be earned by playing mini-games, participating in the Grange Display contest, or just outright purchasing them.

The Stardrop available here is sold for 2,000 Star Tokens, which is hefty — achieving first place in the Grange Display contest awards 1,000 Star Tokens, which is only half the number needed. Players will need to participate in the other activities to earn enough, or purchase them.

For help with the Fair, earning enough tokens, and winning the Grange Display contest, expand this section:

Krobus’s Shop

Another Stardrop for sale is found in the Sewers, listed in Krobus’ shop stock for 20,000 gold.

The Stardrop is 2,000 Star Tokens, and the most profitable activity — the Grange Display — only awards half that number for first place. To have enough Star Tokens for the Stardrop, it’s going to take a bit of work, or a small fortune in gold.

A popular option is the spinning wheel mini-game. For whatever reason, it’s much more likely to land on green than orange. This means that, in general, it’s safer to bet green than orange. Since you can decide how much you bet, this is a pretty efficient option, but be careful not to lose all of your Star Tokens on a single bet unless you have a backup plan.

On the other hand, if players choose to buy the Star Tokens outright, it’ll cost them 50g for each one. This is expensive, but simple and quick. If 1,000 Tokens are earned for first place in the Grange Display contest, the other 1,000 will cost a whopping 50,000 gold. This might not be a lot for veteran players, but for newbies, it’s a fortune. Since it’s tough to win the Grange Display in the early game, that number can be even higher. If zero points are won at the Grange Display, it’ll cost 100,000 gold for 20,000 Tokens!

Aside from the wheel spinner and buying Tokens outright, there are two options. First is the fishing mini-game, which uses Stardew’s notoriously-difficult fishing mechanic and awards a handful of Tokens for successful catches — about a dozen or two for each fish caught. This game also costs 50g to play each time, but that’s a much better rate than spending 50g per token.

The second option is the slingshot game. In this one, players must shoot targets with a slingshot, earning points for each target hit. Red targets are worth 1 point, blue are 2, and purple are 5. In addition to the targets hit, there are bonus points awarded for accuracy. This mini-game also costs 50g each time.

Those hoping to win the Grange Display and grab those 1,000 Tokens can use these tips to help:

Never leave a slot empty, as it results in negative points. It’s better to put junk in empty slots than leave them empty.

Use a variety of item categories (fish, crops, cooked meals, gems, et cetera) — diversity of item category is a big factor

Items with higher sell prices are worth more points. This means a low-quality, profitable crop like an Ancient Fruit with no quality star will be worth more than an Iridium-quality Parsnip, for example

Check the official Stardew Valley wiki for a full mathematical breakdown and to calculate a theoretical Grange Display box’s point potential

First place in the Grange Display contest nets 1,000 Tokens, while second place earns 500, third earns 200, and fourth earns 50. There’s a secret disqualification option that earns 750 Tokens, but we won’t spoil it here!

To unlock the Sewers, players need to find the Rusty Key. This key is given by Gunther after 60 items have been donated to the Museum.

Your Spouse/Roommate

After marrying one of the 12 romance candidates in the game, the upper parts of their friendship meters unlock, maxing out at 14 hearts. Once the player reaches 12.5 hearts with them, they’ll give them a Stardrop.

Players who choose to have Krobus move in instead of getting married will also receive the Stardrop from him at 12.5 hearts.

In a multiplayer game, players can marry each other. In this case, they’ll both receive a Stardrop in the mail the day after their wedding.

Unfortunately, divorcing a spouse and remarrying will not allow for another Stardrop.

Old Master Cannoli

Players who find their way into the Secret Woods will stumble upon a statue sitting on the west side of the area. This is Old Master Cannoli, and, when interacted with, he’ll mention that he’s looking for “the sweetest taste.” In this case, he’s referring to a Sweet Gem Berry. Giving him one will result in a Stardrop, as a gift from Old Master Cannoli.

Sweet Gem Berries can be grown by planting a Rare Seed in the Fall, in a Garden Pot, or in the Greenhouse. Rare Seeds can only be purchased from the Traveling Cart.

Master Angler

Stardew Valley’s fishing mechanic is infamously difficult, but players looking to max out their energy will need to get the hang of it sooner or later. This is because a Stardrop is awarded to the player by Willy after they earn the Master Angler achievement.

What is this achievement given for? Well — catching every fish in the game, of course. This includes the Legendary Fish, a Slime Jack, a Void Salmon, a Lava Eel, and everything else. Some of these fish are extremely, extremely difficult to catch, so get practicing!

The Mines, Floor 100

While hunting for that Lava Eel for the Master Angler achievement, players will need to head all the way down to the 100th floor of the Pelican Town Mines.

The first time this floor is reached, there will be a chest waiting with a Stardrop inside!

Completing the Museum

This final Stardrop is up there with the Master Angler Stardrop in terms of how long it takes to acquire. For this one, players must complete the Museum collection, which includes 95 items — 53 Minerals/Gems and 42 Artifacts.

This is definitely one of the more long-term goals of the game, but it will lead to that tasty, tasty Stardrop and a massive sense of accomplishment, so it’s definitely worth the trouble.
